VU Toolkit ("we", "our", "us", or "the Extension") is a Chrome extension that provides educational, study, productivity, lecture, quiz, PDF, AI, and related tools for supported learning platforms, including Virtual University of Pakistan, DigiSkills, and Cisco NetAcad where supported.

This Privacy Policy explains what information VU Toolkit may access, how it is used, how it may be stored, when it may be transmitted, which third parties may receive it, and how users can control their use of optional features.

1. Information VU Toolkit May Access

Depending on the features the user enables, VU Toolkit may access the following categories of information:

• Text and other educational content displayed on supported VU, DigiSkills, and Cisco NetAcad webpages.
• Quiz, assessment, lecture, and course content selected or processed by the user through the Extension.
• Information contained within supported webpages that is required to provide an enabled feature.
• Browser cookies associated with supported websites when a feature specifically requires cookie access.
• Extension settings, preferences, and configuration information stored using Chrome extension storage.
• Google authentication information required for the optional Google Calendar feature.
• Google Calendar event information required to create, view, modify, or otherwise provide the Calendar feature requested by the user.

2. Webpage Content and Browsing Information

VU Toolkit uses content from supported educational webpages only when necessary to provide a user-facing feature of the Extension. This can include reading or modifying webpage content, extracting quiz or lecture information, or performing other actions requested by the user.

VU Toolkit does not use webpage content or browsing information for behavioral advertising, personalized advertising, selling user profiles, or unrelated tracking.

VU Toolkit does not intentionally collect a history of all websites visited by the user.

3. Cookies and Authentication Information

VU Toolkit requests access to the Chrome Cookies API because certain supported-platform features may require access to website cookies.

Cookies and authentication information are used only when necessary to provide the relevant Extension functionality.

VU Toolkit does not sell authentication information or use authentication cookies for advertising or user profiling.

Authentication information must remain protected. VU Toolkit does not intentionally disclose passwords, session tokens, or authentication cookies publicly.

4. Chrome Extension Storage

VU Toolkit may use Chrome extension storage to save settings, preferences, feature states, configuration values, and other information required to operate the Extension.

Information stored through Chrome extension storage is retained according to the Chrome storage mechanism used by the Extension. VU Toolkit does not intentionally store users' educational content on a developer-controlled server solely for storage purposes.

5. Google Account and Google Calendar

VU Toolkit includes an optional Google Calendar integration. When a user chooses to use this feature, the Extension may request Google OAuth authorization.

The Extension requests the following Google Calendar permission:

This permission allows the Extension to view and edit calendar events on calendars accessible to the authorized Google account.

Google authentication tokens are used only to authenticate the requested Google Calendar operation. VU Toolkit does not sell, advertise against, or otherwise use Google account information for unrelated purposes.

VU Toolkit’s use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements.

Users can revoke VU Toolkit’s access to their Google account at any time by visiting https://myaccount.google.com/permissions .

6. AI Features

Some optional VU Toolkit features may allow a user to submit selected quiz questions, educational text, or other user-selected content to an external AI service to generate an answer, explanation, summary, or other requested result.

AI transmission occurs only when the user activates the relevant AI feature.

Before using an AI feature, the user should understand that the selected content may leave the browser and be processed by the selected third-party AI service.

Third-Party AI Providers

Depending on the feature and configuration actually available in the Extension, selected content may be transmitted to:

• OpenAI — when an OpenAI-powered AI feature is used.
• xAI / Grok — when a Grok-powered AI feature is used.

The Extension does not intentionally transmit user-selected AI content to unrelated companies or advertising platforms.

Third-party AI services process information according to their own privacy policies, terms, retention practices, and security practices. Users should review the applicable third-party provider's policies before using an AI feature.

7. Information We Share

VU Toolkit does not sell user data.

VU Toolkit does not provide user data to advertising networks, data brokers, or information resellers.

Information may be transmitted to third parties only when necessary to provide a user-requested feature, when required by law, or for security and abuse prevention purposes permitted by applicable policies and law.

Third parties that may receive information include:

• Google — when the user authorizes and uses Google Calendar functionality.
• OpenAI — when the user activates an OpenAI-powered AI feature.
• xAI / Grok — when the user activates a Grok-powered AI feature.

8. VU Toolkit Developer Servers

VU Toolkit does not intentionally maintain a general-purpose database of users' quiz questions, lecture content, screenshots, passwords, authentication cookies, or Google Calendar events.

If a future or current feature sends information to a VU Toolkit-controlled server, that server and the categories of data transmitted will be identified in this Privacy Policy before that feature is used.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

VU Toolkit does not intentionally retain webpage or quiz content on developer-controlled servers after a user-requested feature has completed, unless a particular feature explicitly requires temporary processing or storage and that practice is disclosed to the user.

Information stored locally by the Extension remains according to the applicable Chrome storage mechanism until it is deleted by the user, cleared by the Extension, or removed when the Extension's stored data is removed.

Third-party services may retain data according to their own policies. Users should consult the privacy policy of the applicable third-party service for information about retention and deletion.

10. Data Security

VU Toolkit is designed to limit access to information to what is necessary for its disclosed user-facing functionality.

When personal or sensitive user data is transmitted by the Extension, transmission is protected using secure communication mechanisms such as HTTPS where supported by the destination service.

Authentication information, OAuth tokens, cookies, and other security credentials are not intentionally made publicly available.

11. Advertising and Sale of User Data

VU Toolkit does not sell user data.

VU Toolkit does not use user data obtained through the Extension for personalized advertising, behavioral advertising, or retargeting.

VU Toolkit does not transfer user data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers for monetization.

12. Third-Party Website Communication

VU Toolkit may interact with supported websites and, where enabled by the Extension's configuration, with the official VU Toolkit website at vutoolkit.com for extension-related functionality.

Website-to-extension communication is used only to provide the corresponding Extension functionality and is not intended for advertising or unrelated tracking.

13. User Control

Users choose whether to activate optional features such as AI processing and Google Calendar integration.

Users may stop using these features at any time and may disable or remove VU Toolkit through Chrome.

Users should not submit confidential or sensitive information to a third-party service unless they are comfortable with that service receiving and processing the information.

14. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Compliance

VU Toolkit's handling of user data obtained through Chrome extension APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

User data is used only to provide or improve the Extension's disclosed user-facing functionality and related operational purposes permitted by the Chrome Web Store policies.

User data is not sold and is not used or transferred for personalized advertising.

VU Toolkit does not allow humans to read user data except where permitted by the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements, such as with the user's explicit consent for specific support purposes, security purposes, legal requirements, or appropriately aggregated and anonymized internal operations.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the Extension's functionality or data practices change.

The "Last updated" date will be changed when material changes are made. Continued use of the Extension after a material change indicates that the user has had an opportunity to review the updated policy.
